Didn't know how popular this place was but found out very quickly. Got a lucky open reservation that opened up and was sat down by 8pm. When I say this burger ranks up there with the best in NYC, not hyperbole. Got to try it yourself. Otherwise everything else we got, the wedge with thick bacon, the squid ink pasta, and the mussels were amazing. Will definitely come back. A+
The burger was a solid 6.8. Overall good drinks and food. Friendly staff. I enjoyed the food here. It’s definitely a great burger but not top 3 I’ve had. I would go back to try some other dishes, everything looked great !
Red hook tavern is a great place to have a meaann burger!! Charlie was the hostess and he was kind enough to squeeze us in at a table. Julie and Riya served us and they were awesome! Friendly, attentive and very nice! The food came out fairly quickly and that was great cause we were heading to a basketball game right after. The burger was cooked to perfection. The fries looked and tasted homemade and were delicious. And I cant forget the pickle!! Lol the atmosphere was good also. Not too loud or noisy. The only thing I will say is that its not extremely big so I can see why its hard to get a table. But ita worth it. Maybe juat call ahead for reservations. I would go again. I recommend 👌
Loved our dinner at Red Hook Tavern. It did not disappoint. The Shrimp cocktail was a great way to start our meal. Juicy, delicious and expertly seasoned. The burger was heavenly. Lived up to the hype. Top tier burger and was worth the trek. Perfectly cooked. Perfectly seasoned. Perfect ratio. The accompanying potatoes were great as well. The oxtail pasta was a standout. Homemade pasta cooked beautifully. This dish is greater than the sum of it's parts. The rainbow cookies and sundae were a great way to end the meal. Service is on point. We loved our meal!!!
Red Hook Tavern was one of the most anticipated burgers I’ve ever wanted to try, and it absolutely lived up to the hype. From the moment I walked in, the atmosphere was welcoming with great vibes, attentive service, and an outstanding dining experience. The burger was every bit as good as advertised—perfectly cooked, packed with flavor, and worth the trip on its own. Combined with the excellent food across the board and friendly service, it’s easy to see why this place has earned such a strong reputation. If you’re a burger lover or simply looking for a great meal in Brooklyn, Red Hook Tavern is a must-try.
Burger left me speechless! I don’t know how it’s possible to get that crispy peppercorn crust outside while also leaving the center fatty and dripping in dry aged steak flavor. Really the perfect classic steakhouse burger and probably the best I’ve ever had. Country ham croquettes, French onion soup, and thick cut bacon wedge salad to start were all insanely good as well. Spanish Gibson martini was very good, and complemented the food really well. Worth the trek to Red Hook and already thinking about when I can get back.
Red Hook Tavern has been on my list for a while given all the praise for its burger, but it’s definitely a tough table to get. While you can try walking in, I’d strongly recommend making a reservation unless you want to wait an hour or more. That said, it was absolutely worth it. We started with the shrimp cocktail and gem salad. I’m not usually a huge gem salad person, but this one was really good, especially with the massive slab of perfectly cooked bacon. But wow, the burger. Absolutely amazing!! Perfectly cooked, juicy, and packed with flavor. It’s easily now one of my top three burgers in the city. Great staff, great tavern vibe, and just an all-around great lunch. I’ll definitely be back.
A lot of superlatives ahead. I’ve had the burger here several times, it’s my favorite burger in the world. You may not agree but you can’t argue it isn’t a world class burger and the in the conversation. I think a little slept on, they also have the best wedge salad in NYC. It’s perfect and a must if you’re a wedge person. Red Hook Tavern gets a lot of hype for their burger but what’s not said enough is that’s it’s also one of the best restaurants in NYC, period. The space is cozy, the service is always warm, the drinks are fantastic, and the food is special. I don’t think there’s a bad thing on the menu. The only minor negative is that it’s hard to get into. But glad to see them thriving and at the end of the day, it’s worth any effort to visit.
I can confidently say the burger at Red Hook Tavern is not only delicious — it might even be better than the famous burger at Peter Luger Steak House. It’s simple, but incredibly juicy and packed with flavor. Yes, it’s pricey, but absolutely worth it. The drinks are also excellent — my personal favorite is the Luna de Margarita. My husband and I have been here four times within a year, which says a lot. I also noticed many people ordering the French Onion soup, which I will definitely try next time. I highly recommend making a reservation. People start lining up well before the restaurant opens for walk-in seating, and spots fill up quickly — you could easily get turned away without one. The staff is friendly, and the rustic vibe inside makes the whole experience feel warm and inviting. On our first visit, my husband’s burger wasn’t cooked correctly, but the manager handled it perfectly — they quickly brought out a new one, comped the burger, and sincerely apologized. That’s what great customer service looks like. Also, don’t skip the cavatelli with oxtail ragu — it’s absolutely delicious and highly recommended.
We came on the 4th of July and waited in line for about 20 minutes to put our name down. We were able to get a reservation at the bar for two about an hour after putting our names down. The drinks were great, I especially loved the Caffe Amaro, a very similar taste to an Espresso Martini. While everyone comes for the burger, I was truly blown away by everything else. The croquettes were phenomenal, the Dijonnaise it comes with is the perfect dipping sauce. The bacon slab on top of the wedge salad may have been the best slab of bacon I’ve ever had. For entree’s we got the burger & the fish and chips. I wouldn’t say it was the best burger I’ve ever had, but it’s up there. Next time, I would definitely get it rare as we ordered it MR and it tasted more MW. With that said, it was still delicious. The fish was great and it was a blast of flavor every time I dipped it in the tartar sauce. I was also a big fan of the fries. They look chips but are cooked like fries and were delicious. The only complaint, we came during the heat wave and it didn’t feel like the AC was on full blast. We went to a few other establishments during our wait and those places all had much better AC which should be noted. But overall a 5/5 experience in a very cool neighborhood.
